When to Buy Spring Planted Flower Bulbs

Bulbs for planting in spring can be ordered months before planting time. Our pre-shipping sale on summer blooming bulbs that are planted in spring such as dahlias, begonias, gladiolus, canna lilies and calla lilies starts in January each year.

By placing your order early in the shipping season you are securing the items you want for planting in spring. Ordering early in the season helps to reserve your spot in the shipping queue based on your hardiness zone. We hold your order until we begin shipping to your area. We begin shipping in spring to the warmest hardiness zones working our way to the cooler areas by mid-spring.

Spring bulbs can be bought during the spring planting months of March, April, May and June.

During the peak planting season of March, April and May it may take several weeks for your order to ship due to increased order volume during this time. We are generally able to ship your bulbs within 3-10 business days once peak planting season is over.

Bulbs that are planted in spring and have a tendency to bloom in summer are called spring bulbs. Not to be confused with bulbs that are planted in fall and bloom in spring.
