    Plant Information
Liatris, also known as Blazing Star or Gayfeather, is a plant native to wide open prairies. Therefore, they are extremely tolerant of drought conditions and the hot summer sun. Add this hardy perennial to your garden and get ready to do some butterfly watching! Also use the vibrant purple spikes to add interest to a summer bouquet!

    Cons:
Roots came well packaged and properly labeled. I planted them within 24-48 hours of their arrival. I prepared the garden with well draining soil in direct sunlight. It was a limited time discount when I purchased this bundle. I feel that it met my expectations so far. There were two plants that were in partial shade of a nearby shrub. These plants had very stunted growth. Fertilizers and other methods to aid their development has failed. I plan to remove them and put them pots and in direct sunlight. 100% germination rate from roots. 90% were uniform and strong plants once established. These needed little maintenance after the first two weeks. I would repurchase and recommend this item.

    Cons:
I purchased a lot this year, some planted a bit late. Almost all came up and are mostly healthy in 4 locations. The ones that got the least water did not do as well as the ones that got regular, like every other day watering. All had similar clay/thick compost mix soil. First year the tallest are 24".
    Nice foliage. A great value

    Great for sandy/dry

    Pros:
    • Hardy
    • Forgiving
    • Takes a beating
    Cons:
I ordered a lot of these. They arrived, I insisted them but didn't have time to plant. I didn't do a great job storing them for a few weeks and lost some to mold. I planted the rest in sandy soil and proceeded to water them diligently, forget them and leave them to the elements. Some days I find them water logged and drowning other days they were dry as a bone. Regardless these babies grew and grew and grew. Perfect for a distracted gardner. They make a beautiful contrast next to my orange daylilies.
