Curcuma are exciting new bulbs in the ginger family that are native
to Thailand, Laos, China and other southern Asia countries. Manee Siam is an easy to grow bulb with white and light pink flower bracts
that bloom in summer. In hardiness zones 8 and above Curcuma will be
winter hardy and perennial returning for several years. Curcuma do go
dormant in warm climates during the winter months, so don't be alarmed
if they disappear for a few months.
Plant Curcuma in moist, well drained soil in soil high in organic
matter. During the growing season once the Curcuma has emerged from
dormancy be sure to provide plenty of water, as it needs about 1" of
water per week to thrive. Curcuma thrive in warm climates and will bloom
all summer! Can be grown in the ground in beds or borders, but also
does very well in patio planters and containers.
