Begonias were bigger than I expected.

I received my order for the Santa Barbara begonia and was amazed at the size and quality of the corm/tuber. My order arrived within a few days which I appreciated as our weather has been very cold and I feared the begonia might be damaged. The tuber was already showing signs of sprouting and I potted it up that day. Now the begonia is ready to go outside when the weather settles.

I’m growing these in large planters by my front door. They make a nice statement. One has compost mixed with the potting soil and is larger than the one without compost so I’ll be sure to give them plenty of compost next year. They have lots of foliage and tons of flowers but I was expecting white flowers and both of them are red.

I planted the bulb and it sprouted in about 2 weeks. It's growing nicely and has it's first small blooms.
