Store Begonias Over Winter
The best-kept secret about begonia tubers is how easily they store over winter. The tubers can stay in the planting baskets or containers during the winter months, and stored in a cool, dry, and dark location while dormant. There is no need to water them during the winter months.
During late winter to early spring bring the tubers to a brightly lit location indoors to start the growth process. Transfer the tubers outdoors in spring or summer once the danger of frost has passed.
*If you plan to store the tubers over winter, they do still need to be planted this summer and allowed to grow and bloom, before entering dormancy for winter.
Begonia Planting Suggestions:

- Add a begonia or two to a mixed container planting with other flowering annuals for a burst of bright color and added texture.
- Double, ruffled and picotee begonias can be used in container plantings, but also look nice planted under a tree or in a shaded garden border.
- Start your begonias in pots prior to planting in the ground for best results.
