I ordered the red amaryllis. I received the bulb and the peat in which to pot it. I carefully followed the instructions but the peat only expanded to a damp lump. I finally bought a small bag of peat, which did expand properly.

The bulb, however, had apparently sustained some sort of damage in transit, since the first bloom had one bloom - the second only opened halfway and one petal was completely crumpled, and the third never opened at all. I realize this was a bargain bulb, but you asked!
