This is the first Iris of the spring for me, 3/25/24, and this is my first time growing irises. It is a big bold bloom and blood red...it looks so saturated. The throat and beards are very gold. What is amazing is that I am in Zone 10B. The stalk has 5 buds so far and it is not that tall...maybe 24" so far (i think this is because of my Zone). It is all i could have hoped for.
War Chief is reblooming beginning September 24th in Zone10B, see my previous post from March. What an amazing iris. A delicious fragrant true red iris.
Excellent rhizome, look forward to seeing it bloom next year!
I received the bulb in August and promptly planted it in my Iris bed. To date it has not grown any leaves or shown any sign of being viable. Hope it is growing roots or something as I will be very disappointed if I don't have a plant coming out of the ground next spring...with a flower!
I pleased with the starters that you sent waiting until they get bigger and bloom. I cant wait until spring to see them.
