Ordered on Saturday June 10, when butterflyweed was on clearance. To my delight the root which arrived Weds June 14 is in great shape, not dehydrated, packed in a sachet of very slightly damp potting mix, and very much alive. About 7 inches long, and just starting to come out of dormancy. Kudos to HBF for knowing how to store their plants. It's in the ground now and I'll post updates if the website lets me.

Unseasonably cold weather has delayed any growth, but the bare roots came intact and in good shape.
I ordered several swamp milkweed plants to help the butterflies. two of the roots were broken, unfortunately. I planted them anyway but they didn't sprout. The others are green and healthy and currently are about 12 inches tall. They might not bloom this year and that's ok. I have them planted in a large barrel planter with golden/orange hummingbird mint so they will blend nicely.
Butterfly Weed is a nice looking plant with colorful flowers, I've ordered a few of them and so far only about half have grown, hopeful the rest will start growing.
