My Asparagus arrived the 1st 100° day on June 30th. I know I planted it very late and into hostile weather. But I had a raised bed prepared and ready for planting. I soaked the crowns for a few hours then planted them. I started slowly filling in around the plants but the temperature kept rising. So I decided to fully cover the plants and put on a good thick layer of straw. It's now July 15th and it looks like about 12 or my 16 crowns have sprouted and half are ferning out allready. I am very happy with my results.

I filled bed with a mixture of 2 bags of manure, jumbo large bag of garden soil ( I knew this soil was very chunky not like soil at all lol ) 3 large bags of the crap MG soil and a good amount of peat moss..

I'm excited to have a 3 year bed by spring.

I'm wishing I would have bought more crowns but truthfully I thought they would die a quick death.

I added a package of asparagus seeds to the middle of the bed ( I did crowns all around the perimeter. ) I can't wait to move some of my strawberry 🍓 to this bed and some trailing nasturtium.

The people that tell you it's never to late to plant Asparagus are correct.

Happy gardening

These have shot up a foot in the two weeks since we planted them. We're leaving them alone this year, but expect to have quite a bit of asparagus next spring!

These are amazing plants.

I have never grown asparagus before, so this is my first attempt. Directions are very easy, plant them and let them grow for 2 years. I like the simplicity of this!!

Started growing right away

Got these early April and planted them in a tall raised bed right away. No experience with asparagus so I’m sure I made tons of mistakes 😆 But they sprouted soon after and I’ve enjoyed watching the skinny spindles grow and fern! Won’t touch them this year. Hoping to pick sparingly next year then harvest after that. Consider buying more!
