Mary Washington Asparagus 2yr

Seems to be a good batch. Several clusters have taken hold.

I received all the roots in good condition. I planted them quickly but now we need to wait for a year to see if they produce as much as they said.
They all sprouted and are growing now

In Southeast temperate Kansas. We have purchased these from Holland Bulbs three consecutive years and are very happy
with the results. One year the roots came with some rot and Holland Bulbs immediately took care of it so we could plant in time. If you are a first time asparagus grower I would recommend these and I always recommend Holland Bulbs

Got these early April and planted them in a tall raised bed right away. No experience with asparagus so I’m sure I made tons of mistakes 😆 But they sprouted soon after and I’ve enjoyed watching the skinny spindles grow and fern! Won’t touch them this year. Hoping to pick sparingly next year then harvest after that. Consider buying more!

Over the years I've planted Mary Washington Asparagus seeds to create an asparagus bed and have had limited success. Usually, getting a few spears after 5+ years and, quite simply, turning them under and giving up. However, this year I had created a new bed that I worked on and contemplated what to plant in the bed...after picking up some fresh asparagus at the grocery store I realized I wanted to cultivate a true asparagus bed like my mother and father had in their garden. Well, I found Holland Bulbs and bought three orders of crowns (about 21, 22 crowns). It's been about six weeks and they have been amazing! I'm looking forward to being able to harvest spears in the next year or two. The crowns are healthy and flourishing! Thanks Holland Bulbs!
